Treatments for Bad Breath
The best way to treat bad breath varies from patient to
patient. For some patients, practicing good dental hygiene and/or using
commercial products can considerably reduce unpleasant mouth odor. For
others, especially those with chronic bad breath, such "lightweight"
treatments might produce only temporary relief. Please consult with
your dentist on what would be the best way to treat mouth odor.
If you are interested in using commercial product to
treat halitosis, here is a review of products from
various manufacturers.
And here are some steps that you can do to improve your
dental hygiene:
-
Brush your teeth two times a day (in the morning and in
the evening).
-
Clean the area between the teeth using a floss or an
interdental cleaner. This helps to clean the bacteria, usually
originating from food, and keeps the mouth clean. As an added bonus,
flossing removes plaque which improves the overall dental health. Try
to remember to floss every day.
-
Eat a healthy and balanced diet and refrain from
snacking between meals.
-
Go to your dentist regularly for a general clean-up and
oral exams.
